Zeewezengebouw

The project

The Zeewezengebouw is a landmark heritage building situated on a peninsula between the Voorhaven and the Montgomery Dock in Ostend.

Originally designed by architect Marc Felix in collaboration with artist Roger Raveel, the building houses key maritime services, including the maritime police, lifeguards, pilots and boat repair services.

Its location forms a symbolic gateway to the harbour and represents the maritime identity of Ostend.

Furnibo

De werken

Furnibo is carrying out the full renovation of the Zeewezengebouw, with a strong focus on circular construction principles.

Our scope includes a careful restoration process aimed at maximising the recovery and reuse of original materials. Throughout the renovation works, all maritime services remain operational from temporary units on site.

Special attention is being paid to the preservation and protection of the integrated artworks. The technical execution requires a highly specialised approach to respect and enhance the building’s heritage value.
